China, the epicenter of the novel coronavirus outbreak, has reported 650 new confirmed cases,. and 97 additional deaths, as of Sunday.
Beijing's National Health Commission said the death toll hit two thousand-four-hundred-and-forty-four, with thousands of patients facing serious health conditions.
That brings the total number of confirmed cases in the country to more than seventy-seven-thousand.
The World Health Organization says nearly 78,000 people are infected around the globe, with at least 17 deaths outside of mainland China.
Italy has seen a sudden spike in infections, surging to nearly 80 cases, concentrated in a cluster of northern towns. Two people were reported dead on Saturday.
Health authorities in Iran also reported a sixth death the same day, out of the 28 people who were confirmed to be infected.
Also, a Japanese woman was found to be infected, after she left the coronavirus-hit Diamond Princess cruise ship this week.
That's despite initially testing negative for the virus.
