IMF expects lower GDP growth for China in 2020 amid virus outbreak Updated: 2020-02-24 07:03:54 KST

Staying with G20 finance ministers meeting, the IMF has also slashed its yearly growth projection for China to 5.6 percent due to the COVID-19 outbreak.
That's point-4 percent lower than its earlier forecast.
IMF's Managing Director Kirstalina Georgieva said the impact on the world economy would be relatively short-lived, IF China's economy returns to normal in the second quarter.
But she said a protracted outbreak could lead to more "dire scenarios."
