Washington's deputy envoy for North Korea says the U.S. is ready for talks with Pyeongyang, while stressing the current pressure on the regime will be maintained going forward.
Speaking at a virtual confirmation hearing as the U.S. alternate representative for special political affairs in the UN, Alex Wong, deputy special representative for North Korea, explained that the Trump administration needs to keep the pressure on to ensure the regime engages in productive negotiations.
He also said China has a role to play, including the enforcement of UN sanctions against the North.
