The number of babies born in South Korea in July fell eight-and-a-half percent from a year earlier.
According to Statistics Korea, the number of births in July stood at 23,67.
That's the fewest births for the month of July since data was first compiled in 1981.
The number of births was lower than the number of deaths in July, which increased by 3.2 percent on-year to 23,963.
The number of new marriages fell by more than 10 percent from a year earlier, while divorces increased by 3.1 percent on-year.
