Washington says it's preparing for all contingencies amid signs of a potential North Korean nuclear test.

Principal deputy spokesperson for the U.S. State Department, Vedant Patel explained during a telephone briefing Thursday, that Pyeongyang is continuing to prepare for what will be its seventh nuclear test.
He also added that Washington's assessment is in line with the regime's own public statements.
Patel stressed that the U.S. remains in close coordination with South Korea and Japan in terms of a response to any provocation from the North.
