Foreign Correspondents Ep.204
Global battle against climate change continues

As the world battles an unprecedented health crisis, another challenge – climate change – continues to pose a serious threat. Wildfires raging on the west coast of the US have burned an area equivalent to 20 percent of South Korea, leaving 35 dead and thousands displaced. Scientists blame climate change for the intense wildfires, saying high temperatures and drought can trigger them. Meanwhile, Hurricane Sally is wreaking havoc across the southeast states. According to a report by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, the Northern Hemisphere had its hottest summer on record this year. Swarms of greenflies have been spotted lately in a Siberian city in Russia. In this week’s edition of Foreign Correspondents, we sit down with our panel of journalists to take a closer look at what these warning signs could mean for the future of the planet and what the international community should do to mitigate the climate crisis.
