U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo says Washington remains hopeful it can have a conversation with North Korea over its promise to dismantle its nuclear weapons program.

He added the two sides remain engaged and hopeful that denuclearization talks will resume.
Pompeo's remarks follow leader Kim Jong-un's threat to showcase a "new strategic weapon" in protest of the stalled nuclear talks.
