Global oil prices drop sharply as worry over Iran attacks fades
Updated: 2020-01-09 12:54:54 KST
Oil prices have fallen sharply after President Trump's speech downplaying Iran's attack on U.S. troops in Iraq.
Brent crude in London had briefly hit a three-month high of almost 72 dollars a barrel immediately after Tuesday's attack, but by the end of trading on Wednesday, it was down percent to settle at 65 dollars and 44 cents.
West Texas Intermediate also dropped 4.9 percent to 59-61 a barrel.
For now, oil from the Middle East continues to flow unimpeded, but analysts say there are still fears about those shipments which account for almost a third of global supplies.
