Ahead of South Korea's April general elections, a group of conservative parties are preparing to join forces to create a unified conservative bloc.
On Tuesday, the so-called Innovative Integration Committee, made up of lawmakers from the main opposition Liberty Korea Party and the newly formed New Conservative Party, held its first landmark meeting.
Some 14 lawmakers gathered to discuss the committee's direction, which is mainly to narrow the differences between members and negotiate the specifics of creating a joint conservative party.
Committee Chairman Park Hyung-jun said that it's time for opposition lawmakers to turn over a new leaf and work together towards a hopeful future.
