The S&P 500 ended the day up point-two percent to 3,289.
The Nasdaq closed just above the flatline at 9,258.
On the oil markets on Wednesday, Brent Crude and WTI were both down around a third-of-a-percent at 64 and 58 dollars a barrel, respectively.
