The Dow Jones Industrial Average gained 268 points, or point-nine percent, to 29,297
The S&P 500 jumped point-eight percent, breaking above 3,300 for the first time, closing at 3,316.
The Nasdaq advanced 1.1 percent to 9,357.
On the oil markets, Brent Crude and WTI both rose around one percent to 64.60 and 58.43 a barrel, respectively.
