The value of Japan's exports to South Korea plunged to an 11-year low in May due to the pandemic and to Tokyo's export controls against Seoul.
According to the Korea International Trade Association, Japanese shipments to Korea came to just over three billion U.S. dollars in May, down 18 percent from a year earlier.
Exports of raw materials and semiconductors fell by roughly 49 percent and 30 percent, respectively.
The report pointed to the pandemic hitting demand and the boycott of Japanese goods in South Korea prompted by Tokyo's export restrictions.
