S. Korea, China to inform of export bans on energy, mineral resources in advance
Updated: 2022-01-26 17:01:31 KST
South Korea and China have agreed to let each other know in advance if they decide to restrict exports of key energy and mineral resources.
In a regular meeting Wednesday regarding the two countries' free trade agreement, officials from both sides also agreed to improve support for business travel, and to smooth out logistics chains and customs clearance.
The talks come just a few months after China curbed exports of diesel exhaust fluid, which is crucial to the logistics industry, resulting in a shortage in Korea.
Seoul also brought up the issue of copyright violations in China and demanded more cooperation from Beijing in protecting Korean cultural content.
The South Korea-China FTA took effect in 2015 and since then until last year, bilateral trade volume increased by nearly 33 percent.
