North Korean leader Kim Jong-un has said that he will work towards improving people's living conditions.
This was said during a lecture to mark the 76th founding anniversary of the regime's ruling Workers' Party.
The North's state media reported on Monday that Kim's lecture addressed the need to resolve problems relating to food, clothing and shelter for the next five years.

This comes as Kim remains determined to carry out the party's five-year economic plan set in January this year.
He also stressed that a better tomorrow will come faster, if officials do their jobs well enough.
Kim warned party officials to refrain from causing trouble,.. and "infringing" on the interests of the people.

The lecture was reportedly Kim's first at a party founding anniversary event, since he took power in 2011.
North Korea celebrated the ruling party's 76th founding anniversary on Sunday without a military parade or any displays of provocation.
The regime's leader also did not mention inter-Korean ties or the U.S.
