Over 4-thousand COVID-19 cases were added in South Korea as of midnight Saturday, three days after crossing that mark this week for the first time since the start of the pandemic.
Cases have been surging since the country eased distancing rules this month as a way to get back to normalcy.
In capital Seoul, over 18-hundred infections were reported, the highest ever.
The number of new deaths was also the highest at over 50 while severely ill patients jumped to more than 600.
The government is likely to announce strict disease-prevention measures on Monday.
