Amid mounting tensions as North Korea prepares for a possible nuclear test, South Korea's Air Force on Monday kicked off its aerial combat "Soaring Eagle" exercise.
The drills include multiple training scenarios, such as detecting and intercepting targets from long distance and attacking key enemy forces using a wide range of warplanes, including F-35A stealth fighter jets and F-15Ks with around 200 troops.
"Soaring Eagle" has been conducted twice annually since 2008, but hasn't been held publically in five years.
The first of this year will last for five days until this Friday.
