World News: Moscow renames street outside U.S. Embassy after Donetsk separatist region

Moscow has officially changed the address of the US embassy in the Russian capital.
According to city authorities on Wednesday, the street where the U.S. facility is located is now "Donetsk People's Republic Square", a reference to pro-Russian separatists in eastern Ukraine.
The name was chosen by an online poll that started in mid-May and follows similar renaming strategies in European cities, where streets outside Russian embassies have been changed to names of Ukrainian heroes.
Russia says one of the reasons it sent its troops into Ukraine was to protect Russian-speakers from persecution in separatist regions, as it recognizes the independence of the self-declared Donetsk and Luhansk Republics in Donbas.
