The number of foreign nationals coming to Korea for medical treatment recovered somewhat last year from the lows of the pandemic.
According to the Ministry of Health and Welfare, the number of foreign patients increased last year by 24.6 percent compared to 2020, the first year of the pandemic, when it had declined by more than 76 percent.
The total in 2021 came to 146-thousand, though that's still only about a third of the number before the pandemic.
As for what kinds of treatment they're getting, health check-ups of various kinds recovered the most, up by almost 280 percent.
Cosmetic procedures barely recovered at all, up less than one percent.
