Alphabet becomes 4th U.S. company to reach US$1 tril. market cap Updated: 2020-01-17 16:32:36 KST

Google's parent company Alphabet has hit one trillion U.S. dollars in market capitalization.
It is now the fourth American company to reach that threshold after Apple, Amazon and Microsoft.
Alphabet's shares rose by point-76 percent on Thursday,… tipping it over the trillion-dollar mark.
And this happened just 22 years after the company was founded.
It also comes just over a month after former Google CEO Sundar Pichai was appointed as the Alphabet CEO in December.
With the appointment, investors were optimistic about seeing positive changes within the company.
Apple was the first to hit the trillion-dollar milestone in 2018,… followed by Microsoft and Amazon.
