Pompeo hints N. Korea has not responded to U.S. offer for help on COVID-19 outbreak Updated: 2020-03-27 07:06:14 KST

U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo has suggested that North Korea has not responded to President Trump's offer to help them with the COVID-19 pandemic, adding he hopes such countries can "do better" for their own people.
Pompeo's was speaking on a radio show Thursday, where he was asked about plans in the event of a coronavirus outbreak in Venezuela.
He said countries like Venezuela and North Korea would be in a similar situation, but stressed the U.S. is doing its best to ensure humanitarian assistance gets in, suggesting Pyeongyang has yet to accept Washington's offer.
This comes as the North revealed last weekend that President Trump sent a letter to North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, offering help in the fight against the virus.
