China imposes sanctions on 11 U.S. lawmakers, foreign policy experts in latest tit-for-tat move Updated: 2020-08-11 05:59:57 KST

China has imposed sanctions on eleven American lawmakers and foreign policy experts, in retaliation for the Trump administration's recent imposition of sanctions against Chinese and Hong Kong officials.
Beijing's foreign ministry said Monday that it was imposing sanctions on several American senators who have spoken out against the Chinese Communist Party, including Marco Rubio and Ted Cruz.
The sanctions also target the leaders of U.S. government-funded NGOs like Human Rights Watch and Freedom House.
Most of the senators brushed off the move, and warned Beijing that the U.S. would continue to take a strong stance against the CCP.
