Heatwave alerts expanded to more areas... monsoon in central regions tomorrow Updated: 2020-08-13 17:03:48 KST

The nation is getting a brief respite from the rain, but the monsoon will return tomorrow.
Let's turn to our Lee Seung-min at the Weather Center.
Seung-min, before the rain though, temperatures have been soaring across the nation?

Well, Conn-young. As you said, the monsoon rain has eased off temporarily, but over this short period, temperatures have risen dramatically. Heatwave alerts are now in place for southern regions and Chungcheong-do provinces. Across most of the southeast, alert levels have been raised to a heatwave warning.

The air is a bit more unstable, and with higher moisture levels, there is a chance of heavy passing showers tonight in inland regions. But more importantly, monsoon rain will return over central regions tomorrow.

In the Seoul metropolitan area, parts of Gangwon-do and Chungcheong-do provinces, up to 300 millimeters of heavy rain is in store. The rest of the central region can expect up to 80 millimeters. Rain in the Seoul metropolitan area will last until this Sunday.

For tomorrow morning, Seoul and Daejeon will kick off at 26 degrees Celsius. Daegu and Busan at 25 degrees.

For the daytime, Seoul will reach 28 degrees. Daegu 36 and Busan 30 degrees.

For Korea's neighbors, Beijing and Tokyo will see periodic clouds.

I'll leave you with the weather conditions around the world.
