The South Korean government is taking applications starting today for a new round of relief payments for small businesses affected by the social distancing rules that have limited their operating hours.
The money is for the roughly 550-thousand business owners affected by those restrictions since December 6th.
Those who qualify will each get five million Korean won, or about 42-hundred U.S. dollars.
Initially, to make sure the system isn't overwhelmed, business owners can apply only on the date whose last digit corresponds to their year of birth.
Text messages will be sent out on that day to those who are eligible.
