South Korea has launched a new 28-hundred-ton frigate the R-O-K-S Chuncheon which has enhanced capabilities for detecting and attacking submarines.
It's the eighth and final warship built as part of the country's frigate program.
The launch ceremony was held Tuesday in Ulsan at the shipyard of Hyundai Heavy Industries.
The Defense Acquisition Program Administration says the frigate 122 meters long is armed with high-tech weapons developed in Korea, including ship-to-ship missiles and tactical surface launch missiles.
It can also carry one naval helicopter.
The frigate Chuncheon will be delivered to the Navy at the end of next year after a test evaluation and will then be officially deployed.
