S. Korea holds memorial ceremony to honor 55 troops who died defending West Sea Updated: 2022-03-25 18:45:28 KST

Marking the "West Sea Defense Day", this morning, South Korea held a memorial ceremony to honor those who died while defending the country's West Sea.
Around 250 people -- including government officials and families of the fallen troops -- remembered the sacrifices of the 55 troops at the Daejeon National Cemetery.
Prime Minister Kim Boo-kyum attended the event and said the bravery of the heroes will never be forgotten in Korean history and warned North Korea that its show of force will NOT be tolerated.
The deceased troops honored at the event include those who died in an inter-Korean naval clash near the maritime border in 2002, as well as those killed by North Korea's torpedo attack on the South Korean Navy corvette Cheonan in 2010 and its shelling of Yeonpyeong Island that year.
