North Korean leader Kim Jong-un says his regime will further develop (quote) "powerful strike means" to boost its national defense capabilities.
According to the North’s state media on Monday, Kim made the remarks at a photo session with scientists and officials who contributed to what the regime claims was a successful test-firing last Thursday of its Hwaseong-17 ICBM.
Kim added a country can only guarantee security when it’s equipped with “formidable striking capabilities” and “military power that cannot be stopped by anyone.”
He also thanked the North Korean people for the successful launch, a nod to internal difficulties the regime has faced due to international sanctions and its pandemic-triggered border shutdown.
