A delegation sent by South Korean president Yoon Suk-yeol is en route to the United Arab Emirates to deliver South Korea's condolences on the death of the Emirati president, Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
President Yoon's office says the team is led by lawmaker Chang Je-won, a close aide of Yoon's, and includes Seoul's ambassador to the UAE along with other diplomats.
Chang served recently as Yoon's chief of staff during the transition to his new administration.
The delegation is scheduled to meet on Monday with the UAE's new president, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, half-brother of the country's late leader, to whom they'll express condolences on South Korea's behalf.
The office added that President Yoon sent a telegram on Saturday expressing his condolences to the late president's family and the Emirati people.
