South Korea's auto exports for July surpassed the 5 billion U.S. dollar mark for the first time.
According to figures released by the industry ministry, the figures amounted to 5.1-4 billion dollars.
An on-year jump of around 25 percent.
That is the biggest recorded amount since December 2014.
Fueling this welcome trend are EVs and hybrids.
Outbound shipments of such green vehicles spiked more than 60 percent on-year in July.
It's the first time the monthly numbers have exceeded 50 thousand units.
More than 30 thousand hybrids and 20 thousand EVs were exported in July.
However, domestic sales of Korean cars continued their downward trend, mainly due to the constant increase in demand for imported brands by local consumers.
