Senior Japanese diplomat in Seoul to be replaced over controversial remarks: Yomiuri Updated: 2021-07-19 09:56:04 KST

A senior diplomat at the Japanese embassy in Seoul is expected to be sent home due to controversial remarks he made about President Moon Jae-in.
Japan's Yomiuri Shimbun reported Monday that Tokyo plans to replace deputy chief of mission, Hirohisa Soma, in the coming days.
He reportedly made sexually inappropriate comments about President Moon during a lunch meeting last week with a reporter from a Korean TV broadcaster.
A Japanese official reportedly said the diplomat shouldn't have made such remarks.
