The U.S. nominee for undersecretary of defense for policy has emphasized the importance of robust sanctions to mitigate the nuclear threats posed by North Korea.
Testifying at the Senate Armed Services Committee on Thursday, Colin Kahl said the United States and other countries must continue to enforce sanctions on North Korea to deter its nuclear proliferation activities.
The Biden administration is currently undergoing a comprehensive review of its North Korea policy.
He also underscored the need for the U.S. and South Korea to maintain their combined defense posture.
