North Korea might be preparing to launch a new ballistic missile submarine in the near future.
The U.S.-based North Korea monitoring website 38 North has released a satellite image of Sinpo South Shipyard taken last Wednesday, which shows that the floating drydock there has recently been repositioned alongside the submarine-launch quay in front of the construction hall.
The drydock, it says, is usually moored at a nearby pier.
Because it's rare to see the drydock moved, 38 North says this could indicate two things.
First, it could mean that the North's new ballistic missile submarine, under construction for a couple of years, might almost be complete.
Or the drydock may be there to align it with the quay itself.
