Kim Jong-un calls on N. Korea's ruling party to wage 'Arduous March' amid economic woes Updated: 2021-04-09 10:00:55 KST

North Korean leader Kim Jong-un wants the regime's party to wage a tougher "Arduous March" as the North's economy struggles to recover from the pandemic and crippling sanctions.
Concluding a conference of the party's grassroots leaders Thursday, Kim told them to brace for many "obstacles and difficulties," referring to the so-called 'Arduous March' in the 1990s.
That's when the North suffered famine and even more extreme poverty than now.
The North's state media also said Kim unveiled ten tasks for the secretaries to make their members fighters who are faithful to the party.
