Black Friday online sales dipped for the first time, as consumers took advantage of deals offered earlier in the holiday season.
According to Adobe Analytics data on Saturday, sales this year came to around eight.nine billion U.S. dollars, whereas last year's record of nine billion dollars was an increase of more than 21 percent from the previous year.
The company pointed out that people started spending earlier, responding to promotions and deals from retailers that started in October.
Analysts note that consumers are being strategic in their gift shopping, making sure they get their goods in time to prevent out-of-stock situations and delays due to global supply chain issues.
