The Pentagon reiterated its commitment to developing a mutually reinforcing and future-oriented alliance with South Korea, describing it as the linchpin of peace and stability on the Korean peninsula and the wider region.
At a press briefing Tuesday, Pentagon spokesperson John Kirby was asked what he thought of Seoul's confusion over a recent suggestion by an ex-U.S. Forces Korea commander that the new strategic plan should include countermeasures against China.
Kirby did not elaborate, just saying operation planning and other security matters are confidential.
