The navies of South Korea and the United States, from Tuesday, will hold a joint anti-submarine exercise.
This is the Ship Anti-Submarine Warfare Readiness and Evaluation Measurement exercise, and according to the South Korean navy, it will take place in the East Sea over a period of four days.
In the exercise, the allies will analyze data related to anti-submarine warfare and evaluate their related weapons systems.
Joining the exercise will be the U.S. Navy's guided missile destroyer, the USS Sampson as well as several Korean surface vessels and aircraft.
The drill, conducted every 2 years, comes amid warnings that North Korea could test launch the new submarine-launched ballistic missile it revealed last month.
