Once he's appointed, President Yoon's nominee for Minister of Unification, Kwon Young-se, is saying he will consider visiting North Korea as a presidential envoy.
Kwon was speaking at his parliamentary hearing on Thursday at the National Assembly, where the four-term lawmaker said such a trip would be aimed at mending inter-Korean relations and pursuing the regime's denuclearization.
He also brought up plans to foster inter-Korean economic cooperation, but at the same time acknowledged obstacles to that, like the North's current refusal to accept humanitarian aid or engage in dialogue.
Regarding COVID-19, Kwon said he's willing to provide the regime with medical supplies, including vaccines and fever reducers.
