The honorary chairman of Hyundai Motor Group, Chung Mong-koo, has become the first Korean to be inducted into the Automotive Hall of Fame in Detroit in recognition of his contributions to the global auto industry.
Chung joins the ranks of giants like Henry Ford, Thomas Edison and Karl Benz.
The induction ceremony on Thursday was attended by the current chairman of Hyundai Motor Group, Chung Eui-sun, on his father's behalf.
Chung Mong-koo's induction into the Automotive Hall of Fame was announced in February 2020, but the pandemic postponed his formal induction until this year.
