UNICEF has confirmed that it has sent humanitarian aid to North Korea.
Its spokesperson told Radio Free Asia on Saturday that it was able to move essential health supplies into North Korea in recent weeks, but not in significant amounts.
The spokesperson said they were supplies for children suffering from malnutrition and to treat tuberculosis, and added the organization is hoping this marks the beginning of a more regular supply operation.
This comes after the WHO also said it has shipped COVID-19 medical supplies to Pyeongyang, raising the possibility that the regime might be easing its tight border controls.
