Saving the world from incoming asteroids: Lead investigator of NASA's first planetary defence mission
Updated: 2022-01-18 05:59:13 KST
NASA launched its Double Asteroid Redirection Test, or DART, was launched on a Space X Falcon 9 rocket in November, with the aim of smashing into a near-Earth asteroid at 15-thousand miles per hour.
The spacecraft will attempt to knock the asteroid off the course of a potential collision with Earth.
Planetary defence is not something we often think about but it is vital to one day saving the world from dangerous asteroids, comets or any other object from space headed towards our planet.
