Updated: 2022-06-10 05:50:38 KST
The PGA Tour has indefinitely suspended 17 golfers for competing in the Saudi-backed LIV Golf event near London.
The PGA Tour commissioner announced the suspension on Thursday, adding that any players who participate in future such events will be subject to the same measure.
Players who lose their memberships will also be removed from the FedEx Cup points list.
Among the golfers competing in the LIV Golf series are Dustin Johnson, Phil Mickelson, and Sergio Garcia.
The series is backed by an investment fund chaired by Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, named by a US intelligence report as responsible for approving the 2018 murder of journalist Jamal Khashoggi.
The crown prince has denied the allegations.
