Russian Nobel Peace Prize laureate, Dmitry Muratov, has auctioned off his medal for a record 103.5 million U.S. dollars to raise money for Ukrainian refugee children.
Muratov won the medal last year, and it was sold to a mystery bidder at auction in New York with all the proceeds going directly to UNICEF.
This came on top of the 500-thousand U.S. dollars that Muratov said he would donate to charity.
Muratov co-founded the independent Russian newspaper Novaya Gazeta, whose publication in Russia he suspended in March after warnings from the Kremlin over its coverage of the Ukraine war.
