The U.S. defense budget for next year will ALLOW FOR the current level of U.S. forces in Korea to be maintained.
The country's Defense Authorization Act for the fiscal year 2023 was approved by the House Armed Services Committee on Thursday local time before being handed over to a plenary session of the Senate and House.
The bill specified that it will keep U.S. forces in Korea at 28,500 personnel the same as this year.
It also noted that this level needs to be kept to deter threats aimed at Washington and its allies.
