Over 1,300 cases reported on Mon.; 40% of cases from outside capital region Updated: 2021-07-26 10:34:56 KST

South Korea confirmed another day of COVID-19 cases above the thousand mark on Monday reporting 1-thousand 3-hundred 18 cases.
Monday's numbers were lower than those reported the previous day due to fewer tests conducted over the weekend.
Of the new cases all but 54 were locally transmitted raising the total number of cases to over 190-thousand.
The Greater Seoul region still makes up the highest number of infections on Monday accounting for nearly 60 percent of the total.
But cases are surging outside the capital.
Just a week ago the proportion of infections from outside capital region was around 31-percent.
But on July 26th, the rate exceeded 40-percent of new cases for the first time.
Following this surge, as many people travel during the summer break, health authorities outside the capital area have also raised social distancing measures by one level.
The Greater Seoul area will stay under the highest level four until August 8th, and the rest of the country will be under level three from Tuesday until August 8th.
This means only private gatherings of up to four people are allowed.
Cafe, bars, and singing rooms have to close by 10 PM.
Events like weddings and funerals are limited to no more than 49 people.
The capacity of religious services is restricted to up to 20-percent.
And there are additional measures in places such as parks and beaches because of the many visitors flooding there during summer break.
No night-time drinking is allowed on the beaches and everybody, even vaccinated people, must wear masks.
Meanwhilefollowing the raise in the capital region a few other areas such as Daejeon and Yangyang, have been raised to level four.
In Gangneung, Gangwon Province, the distancing level has been lowered to level 3 starting Tuesday.
