Consumer spending to recover through early 2022: BOK Updated: 2021-12-09 21:28:25 KST

The Bank of Korea sees a strong rebound in private spending from the fourth quarter of this year going into early next year.
This was the projection in the BOK's report to the National Assembly on Thursday, which it attributed to the easing of social distancing and the excess household savings households have put away in the pandemic.
But the central bank noted uncertainties about government policy amid the rapid spread of the COVID-19 Omicron variant.
It also warned of inflation, a phenomenon in many countries forecast to last through next year, which the BOK sees as having a major impact on the Korean economy.
